Pre-Season 2006

Alright, so I haven't been very excited about posting or training as of late. Way back in October at the end of the 2005 season, I began to have some pain in my foot but of course continued to run on it (or at least attempted to do so anyhow). Proceeded to take several weeks off and then try running again (tried this several times)... but to no avail.

So about 2 weeks ago, I finally went to the doctor who pretty much confirmed that I had a stress fracture and probably have since October. I had three preliminary scenarios: 1. 4 weeks in a walking boot, 2. 8 weeks in a walking boot, or 3. Surgery to have a screw placed in my foot. I had to walk around for over a week and a half until I had my scheduled bone scan. I had the bone scan last Tuesday. It sucked. I was told to arrive 15 minutes early for my test at 8:45. Well, I'm always early for everything so I actually arrived at 8:30am. Good thing, since the check-in was being manned by one very slow woman and there were about 8 people in front of me. Needless to say, everything that was scheduled for me fell way behind. I was originally supposed to be injected with the radioactive tracer at 9:00 but that didn't happen until about 9:30. That done, I was told to return around 11:15 or 11:30 for the remainder of the test/scan. I arrived early but wasn't taken until about 11:45 so I didn't get out of the test until around 12:45... that is definitely not how I wanted to spend 4 hours of my morning. And the thing that made it all worse was that I still had to wait until two days later to get the results from my doctor.

Thursday finally arrived and I got the results... good news. I didn't have to have surgery AND at the end of 3 weeks I get to get out of the boot and test out walking. Pending how that feels, my doctor will then decide what I can and cannot begin doing. So training is way behind but at least I have a chance to start up again...

I'm very out of shape right now and I've got my work cut out for me but I'm determined since this is my last year as a "20-24" year old even though I'll be 24 for all of next season I'll really be "25"... don't even get me started on this...

Anyways, here is the tentative schedule so far... more could be added but these are for sure...
