Midsummer Assessment
It's the middle of the summer and the tri-ing is going so much better than I could have ever expected....
Race for Sight on May 1st: I finished first in my age group (20-24 years). This was quite an accomplishment for me for two reasons... 1.) This is usually my "Oh Shit Triathlon" meaning I usually don't train at all prior to it, get my ass kicked, and exclaim "oh shit, i need to get in shape!" afterwards. 2.) I hate cold weather and it was about 40 degrees when I was driving to the race... it didn't really warm up much after that either... but I still succeeded!
Show Me State Games on July 24th: I finished first in my age group (20-24 years) and I FINISHED FIRST OVERALL FOR FEMALES!!!!! Not only that but only 10 men finished before me too... My swim was kinda rough, but my bike was phenomenal... especially considering I hadn't been on my bike in over 2 weeks. But somehow I managed to squeak out a 20mph average on what is arguably the hilliest course I'll encounter in my races this summer. The run was decent considering I was hit by a car back in June and have had some knee problems ever since.
Races Still to Come:
August 13th - US Triathlon National Championships in Kansas City, MO
August 28th - Cinco Ranch Tri/US National Club Championships in Houston, TX
September 3rd - Lake Saint Louis Triathlon in LSL, MO
September 11th - considering the NEMO Tri in Kirksville, MO....... TBD
